Summary: "Do Not Buy the Board Book Version!"

I love this book in hardcover, but I was sorely disappointed with the board book version. The colors are faded and the illustrations are cropped in such a way that some of the magic of the original work is lost. I purchased this as a gift, but I'm returning it. Still a great book, but just be warned that the board book version doesn't do it justice.

Summary: "Great Book for 2 Year Old"

My two year old and I really enjoy reading this story. Each page has only one or two sentences. So, this is just perfect for little ones who aren't quite willing to sit through a longer story. The illustrations are adorable and the story itself is fun to read.

Summary: "Our two girls love this story about the little mouse"

Our two daughters ages 3 and 10 months. Love this story about the little mouse and how he tries to save he red ripe strawberry. We tell them the the big berry bear is their papa an he is coming for it. Then we pretend that they have to hide it by working together -- they have to share it to hide it in their tummies :-).

Summary: "Lovable, wonderful book"

OK, so I'm a sucker for good kids' books. This is another of my favorites.

The story is wonderfully fun to read, especially if you exaggerate the roles for your young listener. And the illustrations are, well, delicious. This is also a book that will appeal to children for quite a while. If they don't already have it in a board book version, they should, because that bright juicy red strawberry is absolutely captivating for little ones.

Obviously, I highly recommend this book--it has become a classic favorite among my own children (for the past 20+ years); I can't imagine a child not loving it as much as we do! Oh, also, if you want a tasty activity to supplement this book, I'd recommend searching for the strawberry mice "recipe" at Disney's site, family fun dot go dot com.

Summary: "Great Read Aloud for Infants & Toddlers"

This book is one of the best first read aloud stories for wee young ones (6 months and up). Not many good ones exist that I have found! The plot is simple to follow along even for the youngest listener. The book has big bold illustrations that keep baby's attention. And the story line gives plenty of opportunity to make reading aloud fun and full of suspense: e.g., "BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! The Bear will tromp through the forest on his, hungry feet, and SNIFF! SNIFF! SNIFF! find the strawberry..." I would recommend this book in a heart beat.
